The BFA Learning Clinic Program

The Learning Clinic Program serves students of all ages who are enrolled at other schools, but who need individualized attention in order to enhance their study, reading or math skills. The Learning Clinic continues the work started by the Emory University Reading Center in 1960, and some of our strongest community supporters are former and current parents of Clinic students. The Learning Clinic Program annually enrolls about 50 students from ages three to adult.

Emory University Programs

Emory UniversityUnder the auspices of the Emory University School of Medicine, Drs. Smethurst and Burdette provide specialized training in study skills, time management, test preparation and test-taking for students pursuing medical careers at Emory. Drs. Smethurst and Burdette and others pioneered Emory's MCAT preparation program for minority students and instructed the course for 15 years. They also prepare students for their Board Review Programs. BFA has provided Emory Work-Study students interested in education an offsite placement to fulfill their work-study commitment. From time to time, BFA has also served as an Observation Site for students in Emory's Division of Educational Studies' Master of Arts in Teaching program.
