The Ben Franklin Academy 2015 Ultimate Frisbee season begins in November and ends in May. Practices, team matches, tournaments and team gatherings are important parts of a successful team season. The season has been designed to give the student Ultimate player a complete team experience that includes competitive and social events that build team and leadership skills. Practices, team matches, tournaments and team gatherings are required. Excused absences must be approved ahead of time by the coach.
There are no try outs for the BFA Ultimate Frisbee Team. Ben Franklin Academy has a no-cut policy. Students begin the program at their current fitness level and work through personal and team goals as the season progresses.
Ben Franklin Academy Ultimate Frisbee participates in a season of approved United States Ultimate Association (USAU) practices, team matches, and tournaments that lead to the High School State Championship at the end of the spring.
Students participating in the BFA Ultimate Frisbee Program receive 150 hours and 15 weeks of work-study credit which satisfies their work-study requirements for the semester. Absences from practices, team meets, and team gatherings will result in deductions of hours and weeks from the work-study total.
Ben Franklin Academy does not provide student transportation to and from the meets and team gatherings. Parents will need to shuttle their student athletes back and forth from home to a meet or team gathering. Student athletes and parents may carpool with other student athletes and parents.
