Individualized Instruction | Mastery Learning | Graduation Requirements Studio Arts
Creative art projects are required of all students as part of their Interdisciplinary Humanities Unit assignments. These creative projects are designed to promote a student's visual expression of his or her ideas. Students meet with the arts faculty to discuss their ideas and possible media to use for interpretation. They develop the project under faculty guidance, participate in a group critique and, lastly, present a narrative summary of their project. In addition to the required creative project, we offer electives in basic drawing, painting, ceramics, and 2-D and 3-D design. We are currently refining the computer graphics component of our program. The arts faculty also encourage and support students in independent art projects for personal creative growth. We display student artworks at our annual parent and grandparent reception in the fall of each year. Student artwork can also be view on our Student Gallery page. Faculty also assist students in developing their portfolios for state competition and for admission into art schools.
