Cross Country Runner Alex W. Takes 1st Place at Wingfoot XC Classic

Cross Country Athletes Fall 2018

On Saturday, September 22, The Ben Franklin Academy cross-country team traveled to Cartersville, Georgia to compete in the forth-annual Wingfoot XC Classic.  BFA has competed successfully in the race for the past four years, but, this year, senior Alex W. took first place out of two hundred and one runners in the JV Boys Blue Race.  Because of the excessive ninety-one degree heat, the race, which was originally planned as a 5K, was shortened to a 3K at the last minute, and the runners had to recalibrate their pacing.  When asked what it was like to finish first in such a prestigious race, Alex said modestly, "There was a ribbon, and I ran through it."  Well done, Alex!  And well done, Cross Country Team!
