Cross Country
The Ben Franklin Academy Cross Country Running season begins in August and ends in December. Practices, team meets, and team gatherings are crucial for a successful season. The season has been designed to give the student runner a complete team running experience that includes competitive and social events that build team and leadership skills.
The practices are Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday from 4:15-6:00 PM. Practices, meets and team gatherings are required. Excused absences must be approved ahead of time by the coach.
Try Outs?
There are no try outs for the BFA Cross Country team. Ben Franklin Academy has a no-cut policy. Students begin the program at their current fitness level and work through personal and team goals as the season progresses.
Team Meet Schedule
The Ben Franklin Academy Cross Country Team participates in a season of approved Georgia High School Association meets, tournaments, Region and State Championships.

Ultimate Disc
Ultimate Disc Season
The Ben Franklin Academy Ultimate Frisbee season begins in November and ends in May. Practices, team matches, tournaments and team gatherings are important parts of a successful team season. The season has been designed to give the student Ultimate player a complete team experience that includes competitive and social events that build team and leadership skills. Practices, team matches, tournaments and team gatherings are required. Excused absences must be approved ahead of time by the coach. Ben Franklin Academy Ultimate Frisbee participates in a season of approved United States Ultimate Association (USAU) practices, team matches, and tournaments that lead to the High School State Championship at the end of the spring.

Golf
BFA Golf Program
The Ben Franklin Academy Golf Program is designed to cater to the needs of students of all abilities, from complete beginners to scratch golfers.
The Ben Franklin Academy also fields a competitve Varsity Golf Team. We compete in Class 1A, Region 3, of the Georgia Independant School Association and offer opportunities for both male and female student athletes. The competitive season is in the Spring Semester and concludes with the Region 3 tournament in late April and the GISA 1A State Championships in May.
The golf team plays and practices at area public courses including Charlie Yates GC and Candler park Golf Course. For more information about playing golf at BFA, contact coach Riley Baxter.
Varsity Golf
BFA offers regular coaching and course outings for more advanced players. Coaching includes regular range practices, on-course instruction, video and computer based swing analysis, and playing opportunities at various courses in the Atlanta area. Head Coach Riley Baxter played NCAA Division 1 College Golf while at Savannah State. He has also competed in numerous GSGA championships. Prior to coming to BFA Coach Riley worked in the golf industry for six years passing the PGA Playing Ability Test, which certified him to teach golf professionally.
Yoga
Hatha Yoga
Students at BFA can choose the wonderful practice of Yoga as an offering for PE credit.
Hatha Yoga is the physical practice of Yoga. Students work on alignment and learn relaxation techniques while building strength and flexibility.
Yoga Instructor Corey Sperry started practicing Hatha Yoga and Tai-Chi at a very young age. Her first and best teacher is her mother Amy Ng who is a well-respected Yoga instructor in Hong Kong. Corey has studied various Yoga disciplines such as Iyengar Yoga, Yin Yoga and Bikram Yoga with various wonderful teachers. She is certified by The Society for Hong Kong Yoga Instructors. Corey has taught Yoga at the recreation center of Cathay Pacific Airline, Austin Peay State University, L.A. Fitness, Corebody Decatur and Body Vision Yoga Studio.

Transportation
Ben Franklin Academy does not provide student transportation to and from golf classes, matches, practices and other team gatherings. Parents will need to shuttle their student athletes back and forth from home or school to golf activities. Student athletes and parents may carpool with other students and parents.
